Why Poetry Greeting Cards?
As I look back to the beginning of my many volumes
of poetry, I see that the very first poem I wrote was on December
1st, 1966. And as I read the words to “Myself and My Love”, I
have to wonder how a young girl of 15½ could possibly have penned
those words of love and of love lost. Holy Moly – did it
really start when I was that young. . . . the rollercoaster of
falling in love and of losing that “one and only”? And so,
volume after volume, I have continued to write the words that would
soothe my broken heart and move me further along the path of finding
“Mr. Right”. And year after year I would read the words and
know that somehow I would share my words with the world. I
wasn’t just sure how that would happen. Would I write my life story?
Maybe. Would anybody care? Maybe. Would I write a book of
poetry? I didn’t think so - but I knew I needed to share.
In 1973, I began a career in the Trust
Industry. In chronological order, I performed the duties
of a Typist, a Secretary, a Trust Administrator, a Trust
Officer, a Manager of a Trust Company, and finally an Account
Executive of trust services (that’s a fancy title for a Sales Rep.).
Every position that I held gave me some level of satisfaction and I
loved helping folks with their estate/trust & financial needs –
but I longed for my creativity to emerge.
In 2003, after 30 years in the Trust field, I
resigned. Huge leap of faith. But instead of sharing my
poetry and musings with the world (still not sure how I was going to
do that) – my husband and I created LBKreations
Birdhouses and AGAIN my dream of
sharing my poetry was sidetracked. I love creating our
Birdhouse treasures – love the feedback from all our satisfied
customers from around the world – still feeling empty and longing
for more.
June of 2006 I took part in a wilderness camp with
one of my best friends. I made a commitment when I was there
to fulfill "My Dream". On the way home she mentioned that her
sister had just moved out from Ontario and that she is a Graphic
Artist (...of course she is – thank you
Universe!) And so began my business relationship with Inkwell
Graphics.
Working with Henriette Greeley has been
amazing. I supply her with my poetry and my photography and
she magically melds those two elements into my Dragonfly Kreations
Greeting Card line and, most recently, she is helping me create my
Postcard line as well. Enjoy the results. My Greeting
Card and Postcard lines have begun and will be added to as fast as
we can work! My cards have been described as “Heart
Rippers” . . . perhaps . . . but if you don’t see what you want ,
just wait awhile - new cards are being added all the
time. Contact us and
let us know what you would like to see more of. I would love to
create a card just for your circumstances.
“Yes, Virginia, there IS A SANTA
CLAUS.” He delivered my first 8 Greeting Cards to me
just before Christmas and turned my Dream into a reality.
